This is a petition to get Stony Brook University to start a George Floyd Memorial scholarship fund. Stony Brook says that they stand with their black students but their actions say otherwise. The change that we are fighting for can not be achieved if we simply sit around and wait for something to happen, we the students have to be the change. We have the power to fight for justice in every aspect of our lives. The black lives matter movement can not end with the protests. This is how we will continue the fight against racism.

The executives at Stony Brook say that they are for equality and they stand with their black students and this fund will prove that. If they truly stand with us they will help us because they have the power to. This fund would help black students in need to pursue a career in leadership, activism, or the various other fields your black student body chooses to excel in. This fund should be instituted as a scholarship able to be renewed for up to four years. Opportunities should be given to everyone equally and this fund is one step closer to that equality.
