The city of Stillwater does not have a proper skatepark. It has caused me and friends and everyone who skates in Stillwater to skate downtown Stillwater. As we skate downtown it makes pedestrians mad and we experience complaints from tourists and pedestrians causing the police to kick us out and having to give us tickets for skating downtown. The existing skatepark in Stillwater right now has many poor obstacles. For instance, the ground of the skatepark is asphalt which makes it really rocky and almost unrideable on a skateboard which is totally unacceptable for a skatepark, while every other skatepark has very smooth concrete with no cracks or flauds. The ramps are built very poorly to the point where when you ride up the rmaps you lose all of your speed the opposite they are supposed to do, the way the ramps are built make it unable to skate any of the obstacles. Basically the only thing that is skateable at the skatepark is the new miniramp that was just built, but we can’t only skate a miniramp forever. The reason why I think it was built so poorly is because random people designed it. I think skaters should design every skatepark because we know what would be best and most fun. I think if we got a new skatepark in Stillwater it would fix all of these problems that are occurring and it would make us stop complaining and we would be happy. If it will get built I think you guys should let me and my friends or atleast skaters design it and have the ground built completely with smooth, crackless concrete like all the other good skateparks. A sponsored, pro skater by the name of Nicole Hause grew up in Stillwater and we ran into her a couple months ago and she said she would help us with getting a new skatepark so maybe if we reach out to her she could help us design it. I am really trying to emphasize that skaters design it and not random council members because I think that's why the skatepark right now is so bad and poorly done. All of my friends and myself would be super happy if we got a new, really well done skatepark and I think it would solve all of the problems going on right now with Stillwater and skateboarding.
