For an Adlai E. Stevenson High School student wifi is critical for everyday life on campus. I, a sophomore at Stevenson, need quality wifi on a day to day basis because the primary equipment we use  are our school iPads. Most of the time, the wifi is connected for iPads, but the speed is generally slow and there are frequent outages with the wifi (which can be pretty frustrating for students and teachers while taking online tests or doing online instruction). As for phone connectivity, the guest wifi has almost zero reception; when students need to get home and communicate with their parents via text or call about transportation to and from school this is particularly problematic. Especially after transitioning from remote to in person learning, with the looming threat of potentially needing to go back to remote as Delta cases rise nationwide, it is crucial that high quality and accessible internet is provided for all students. This can be done by improving guest wifi connectivity and speed, as well as adding wifi boosters to areas in the school where reception is lower. As a Sophomore in High School I am hoping we can get enough signatures to urge the Stevenson school board to improve the quality of internet so that education can be easier for everyone at Stevenson.
