Proctorio is a complete invasion of students' privacy and should not be required to be used in order to take a class or an exam at UTC.

Proctorio makes you scan your room and surroundings and tracks your eye and head movements. Here is a list of other things that proctorio gets permission to use after you install the extension (Taken directly from the Proctorio extension page):

-READ AND CHANGE ALL YOUR DATA ON THE WEBSITES YOU VISIT

-CAPTURE THE CONTENT OF YOUR SCREEN

-MANAGE YOUR DOWNLOADS

-MANAGE YOUR APPS, EXTENSIONS, AND THEMES

-DISPLAY NOTIFICATIONS

-MODIFY DATA YOU COPY AND PASTE

-IDENTIFY AND EJECT STORAGE DEVICES

-CHANGE YOUR PRIVACY-RELATED SETTINGS

Proctorio claims to keep all information safe and doesn't store or share anything but that is simply not true. Proctorio actually keeps recordings and data on a cloud for up to 30 days after they have been collected. Many universities such as UC-Berkeley have already banned this software because it is a violation of student rights. A blatant violation of a student's privacy has already happened!
