The issue

The changes proposed for the 2021 season are superfluous, and represent an ailment of the great game of Australian Rules football.

Every year, more and more changes are piled onto our game which are causing a 'death by a thousand cuts' type effect.

Fans, players and media personalities alike are expressing their disdain for the changes, and there has been uninspired and uninformed response from AFL House to this feedback.

The game of Australian Rules football has always been a game for all Australians, but increasingly it feels as though the game has become the property of broadcasters, sponsors, corporates and the inner circles high up in the C-suite of the AFL. This petition is designed to represent the unheard majority of fans who want the AFL to listen to us, by opting not to tinker endlessly with our game.

We'd like the rule changes to the 2021 to be dropped, and for the game to revert back to the rules that were in effect post-2019 and prior to 2020. In addition, these rules should be 'frozen' in place until the conclusion of the 2022 season, to enable clubs, umpires and fans to become accustomed to one defined ruleset and reduce judiciary errors that result from the rule changes.

20 minute quarters, with all the rules in effect as of January 2020 should be solidified for the long term and eliminate the endless fussing with the rules.
