Please help us save and free Odin and Lucy!
The Issue
Odin and Lucy are two beloved dogs that have never shown signs of aggression and have no bite histories. They have not only been sentenced to death for allegedly killing a cat (which there is NO proof they did) but have also been kept in kennels with NO ACCESS TO OUTSIDE (NOT EVEN FOR POTTY BREAKS), NO EXERCISE, NO AFFECTION, VIRTUALLY NO CONTACT - FOR 12 MONTHS. Note - in those 12 months several other cats have been killed, likely from a coyote or some other wild animal, clearly not these two.
Odin and Lucy need us all to step up and stop this madness. Being an animal advocate, I completely understand when dogs are in fact a danger to society that steps must be taken. Odin and Lucy were never and are in no way a danger to society. What is dangerous is the precedence of caging and isolating any animal, particularly a pet dog for AN ENTIRE YEAR NONSTOP - no exercise, enrichment, visits from family, caring human contact. If a private citizen did that to their own dog, they would charged with animal cruelty.
I’m hoping that your calmer heads will prevail, see this case has no merit and allow these dogs to be returned to their family to recuperate from what they have endured this past year, which has to be incredibly traumatic. We have seen way too many of these cases in the news worldwide recently, dogs confiscated without merit, held way too long and finally returned to the owners, they all accomplished nothing but needless trauma to the dogs. It’s so disheartening that this one is so close to home and our local community is starting to get negative national attention as a result.
Mr. Pittman and all Anne Arundel County representatives, we respectfully ask that you do the right thing and help us get Odin and Lucy home, as well as ensure they have the support they need to recover from this horrific treatment. Sooner rather than later is a must as the dogs have been through enough and we do not want to be the target for negative publicity. Our community is such an amazing one and we do so much good for animals here, this should not be representative of who we are.
Please sign this petition to show support to free Odin and Lucy. Also, please call the Anne Arundel County Council Office (410) 222-1821 to let them know this is not okay and Odin and Lucy must be released immediately.
