Steam should delay converting the pricing to USD for LATAM and MENA regions

The Issue

  1. What will happen?The Steam store in Argentina and Turkey will start using USD, along with new regional prices for LATAM and MENA for 25 additional countries/ territories starting on November 20, 2023
  2. How this will affect Steam users in these regions?Argentina and Turkey are the countries with the lowest purchasing power in the Steam store. Therefore, game publishers offers cheapest price here among all other Steam regions in their currency.  After this application comes into effect, prices in these regions will be converted to USD, and game publishers will be able to offer cheaper pricing in USD compared to America and Europe, if they wish. If they do not wish to offer special pricing, US prices will apply. Even if they offer special pricing, looking at the prices suggested by Steam, there will be increases of up to 200% and 300% in their own currencies in these regions. This will make it difficult for users in these regions to buy original games, and will even lead them to use pirated games.

What we want?According to Steam,  exchange rate volatility in Argentina and Turkey in recent years has made it hard for game developers to choose appropriate prices for their games and keep them current. Steam will implement this application in order to stabilize the pricing in these regions.This is completely understandable if we look from game developers' and publishers' perspective. This application come into effect just before Steam Autumn Sale. What we want is a delay until Autumn Sale or Winter Sale ends.
