Guernsey's Environment needs you! The new Biodiversity Strategy is being presented at the States meeting mid-December. It provides the road map for safeguarding our biodiversity and enhancing our islands' natural environment.

There is support to approve the strategy but Treasury and Resources are refusing to fund it unless the States vote in favour of this. Without this, the process will be moribund and our environment will continue to be poorly protected and degraded. We need everyone who cares about Guernsey's environment to lobby their Deputies to vote for funding this important piece of work.

This strategy is pro-sustainable development and pro-business. One of Guernsey's biggest assets is its environment and this can be used to bring sustainable economic growth just as Alderney has through its Living Islands Initiative. One of the benefits of living in Guernsey is the wonderful place we live in and sustaining it and using it to promote sustainable tourism and recreation will lead to economic growth. A comprehensive strategy will reduce or remove any conflict by clearly laying out how the environment can be used.
