Shut down Westborough Behavioral Hospital

Shut down Westborough Behavioral Hospital
The Issue
I am the mother of a 9 year old boy who struggles with mental health issues. He has been in multiple treatment facilities in the past few years. In July of 2019 he was placed in Westborough Behavioral Hospital for inpatient psychiatric treatment. Unfortunately my son left traumatized worse than upon entering their facility. He was verbally insulted by staff members, he was physically assaulted by other youth and staff allowed it, he witnessed excessive use of chemical restraints, the staff does what they want and does not communicate with parents prior. He had his hair cut while in there and staff lied to cover it up. He was threatened by security (non hospital personnel) with the improper use of chemical restraints. After becoming aware of the use of chemical restraints they attempted to trick me into approving unneccesarry PRN's to drug him up when they didn't want to bother with him. This facility lacks actual therapeutic regimine. Also staff fell asleep on a child and my son watched her attempt to kill herself when she was supposed to be monitored. After fighting for my son to be removed from their care I received false statements in response to my official complaints filed with their human rights officer. I have since been speaking with other parents of youth in the state and it has been brought to my attention that several children share the same trauma history in this facility. It's time that they are shut down so we don't keep hurting our children looking for help during an already trying time.
