Smog checks in California are one of the biggest scams that our government has pulled. Every year hundreds of thousands of perfectly running cars that people have spent small fortunes on are deemed illegal and therefore not able to be driven on public roads again for minor issues such as your speedometer not working correctly or a check engine light for any reason. Smog checks serve no real purpose and are a big cash grab for the state and a burden to the middle and lower classes who do not want to spend fortunes making unnecessary repairs on functioning vehicles. This is what we call "planned obsolescence". An automobile is one of the most costly things that people will own in their life.  Adding unnecessary fees and repairs to this already expensive process of owning a vehicle is absurd and should be eliminated completely as all modern vehicles come equipped with anti-pollution systems.  Our armed forces do not use anti pollution systems on any of their vehicles. So what is this really about is it about saving me environment or is it about the money? Let's really think about this now.  How do you feel when you spend a portion of your savings on a vehicle that you really enjoy driving only to be told for years later that it is now illegal to drive on the road while you are still paying off the loan.  Let us as tax paying voters END this big state nuicanse and cash grab. Not everyone has money to spend to buy a brand new car every 2-4 years just to comply with SMOG check. Why get rid of a perfectly good running vehicle? Just because it wont pass a smog check does not mean that it is not operating properly! I have seen many home built cars with ZERO anti pollution systems actually RUN CLEANER than a car from the factory but it will not pass smog due to the computer saying that it has codes. We the people must get together and eliminate this multi billion dollar cash grab that our local politicians have set up! So if you are tired of spending a small fortune on unnecessary repairs for your transportation tool then sign this petition!
