"Mobile petting zoos" are dangerous to animals, and often lead to cruel treatment. Sadly, many states do not have laws in place to protect these animals, therefore the only chance for these animals is for the public to boycott these exhibits, and encourage State Fairs not to invite them back as vendors. One such traveling "parakeet show" I am aware of has had well over 100 ASPCA complaints in the past few years, but because they move state to state they consistently avoid changing their practices of not feeding the birds or providing them water, no vet care for the sick and injured, lack of crowd control, and more. I am developing a list of all the State Fairs across the country that these shows visit. I will send out a mailing with this petition to all of them with follow up calls, this winter, before the State Fair season begins.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING AMENDMENT:  This petition is designed to target a very specific situation in which parakeets are being starved and abused.  The particular company has had complaints and investigations in multiple states.  This petition does not seek to ban educational exhibits in which the animals are fed, vetted, and otherwise cared for.
