State Department: Stop the Chaos Caused by U.S.-Backed Gaza Aid Operation
The Issue
The Trump administration’s Gaza aid initiative — led by the newly created Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) — was supposed to deliver life-saving help to desperate civilians.
Instead, it has unleashed confusion, danger, and dysfunction this week.
According to CNN, aid drop sites have no clear distribution plan, leading to stampedes, panic, and gunfire as thousands scramble for basic necessities.
"Videos from the distribution site in Tel al-Sultan, run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), showed large crowds rushing the facilities, tearing down some of the fencing and appearing to climb over barriers designed to control the flow of the crowd."
As CNN reports, on Wednesday, Palestinian health officials said one person had been shot dead and 48 wounded during the chaos. The person who was killed died of severe injuries at the Red Cross Field Hospital in Rafah, the officials said.
This isn’t aid — it’s chaos.
The U.S. government created and funds the GHF. That means it is responsible for what happens on the ground — and right now, its rollout is hurting the very people it was meant to help.
We call on the U.S. State Department and National Security Council to immediately make sure GHF’s aid distribution operations has a safe, coordinated system is in place; work with independent humanitarian organizations already operating in Gaza to reorganize the process and ensure that U.S. aid does not contribute to instability, exploitation, or harm.
Gaza needs help — not headlines. U.S.-backed aid must meet humanitarian standards!
