We melt down all the racist statues, make garden tools and give them to community gardens.

The Issue

It is imperative that the actions we take to alleviate the perpetuation of racism be done not in anger but in the knowledge of the injustices that have been happening for centuries to minorities.  Blacks and Native Americans in particular have been savagely mistreated and denied what should be their right as human beings.

I believe taking down every single statue, that represent acts of racism put up throughout this countries history, melting them down, and making garden tools for community gardens would be a step towards acknowledging the terrible wrongs committed. Making something positive from the statues that brings people together with a common purpose would be most healing.  Lets create urban community gardens open to all neighbors where we share the work and the fruits of our labor together.

We could find citizens willing to donate plots of urban land for this purpose.  Maybe there could be volunteers teaching how to grow food.  I can see community potlucks happening and feeding the hungry and teaching children about where food comes from and so much more.  It could all come from admitting that we need to do much better in seeing everyone as a sister or brother regardless of any superficial differences. Together toward a better life for all.
