As we know,  there is a problem with access to daycare in the City of Karratha. This is an issue that is impacting the careers and mental health of families throughout the region. Children are being placed on the wait list prior to birth and are still on the lists months later with parents unable to return to work or study. Parents who do work are often having to take days off when they are unable to get into casual daycare as there are no permanent places available. There is a suitable site in the middle of Karratha, and we need the support of the local member to lobby existing daycare providers to help provide an additional service for families. We need support to help staff this with providing affordable accommodation for staff so the maximum benefit can be achieved through a new service. Karratha is an amazing place to live, however the lack of child care is something that is making families leave the area. We would love to see an increase in available daycare places!
