Orlando Jones was originally hired on to be an actor for Show American Gods on the Starz network. His skills and prestige of writing preceded him and they (the original show runners) extended an offer for him to also be a producer (writer) on the show. He executed the role of being Mr. Nancy and the audience fell in love with both his composition and delivery of the character. It was a much needed addition to the show. He both educated his viewers and stayed on topic for the show’s narrative. The epitome of Black excellence in entertainment. Then... a white man by the name of Charles Eglee was appointed as show runner. He decided that Mr. Jones contribution to the show “Sent the wrong message to Black America”. The show was then coincidently prompted to go in a ”different” direction, so they fired Orlando Jones. No negotiations. Just fired for doing his job a little too well.
