The site at Emma Street, Blairgowrie, has remained in its dilapidated, fire-damaged state for almost four years. As a local resident, this situation affects me deeply, as well as other members of our community. Forced to navigate around hazardous rubble and navigate inaccessible footpaths, we've been left with no choice but to endure substandard conditions. This is particularly challenging for wheelchair users who risk their safety every day by being forced onto a bustling road when attempting to access other buildings in the vicinity.

Even more concerning is the fact that we are living opposite a building potentially contaminated with asbestos and other toxic wastes, a hazard that looms over our daily lives. The ruins continue to shed rubble, while potential toxins seep into the surrounding soil without oversight or remediation from the relevant authorities. Neither the property owner nor the Perth and Kinross Council have taken the necessary steps to ameliorate these dangerous conditions, showing an unacceptable disregard for public safety and wellbeing.

This petition urges the immediate enforcement action to demolish or repair the building at Emma Street and to clear away hazardous waste and materials, including asbestos. We demand the restoration of public footpaths to ensure they are safe and accessible to all, especially for individuals using wheelchairs. Additionally, clear lines of sight at the junction of Arthur Street for all vehicles entering Emma Street must be established to reduce traffic risks and enhance public safety.
