Start a Turning Point USA chapter at Hunterdon Central High School, and any other campuses
The Issue
Being allowed to start a Turning Point USA chapter at Hunterdon Central High School is crucial for ensuring that our youth have an equal voice without the fear of being silenced by mainstream narratives. In today’s divisive climate, it is more important than ever to uphold the First Amendment as it was originally intended. This is not just about a club; it is about the future of free speech and expression in our schools.
The tragic assassination of our late Charlie Kirk is a stark reminder of what can happen when voices are suppressed. Charlie was targeted by those who disagreed with his views, a victim of an extreme left that couldn’t tolerate opposing perspectives. In honor of his legacy, and his undying commitment to free speech, we seek to establish a platform for our voices, much like Charlie advocated for during his lifetime.
By starting a chapter, we create opportunities for fruitful discussions, constructive debates, and educational experiences that empower students. It becomes a place where young people can learn how to articulate their thoughts, defend their beliefs, and embrace diverse opinions—skills that are indispensable in today’s world.
With more than 3,000 chapters nationwide, Turning Point USA is dedicated to educating students about the importance of fiscal responsibility, free markets, and limited government. Our high school should not be an exception. Allowing a chapter to thrive can bring balance and provide a space for conservative and libertarian views to be freely expressed, promoting a genuinely inclusive and representative educational environment.
Hunterdon Central, like many schools in New Jersey, prides itself on its commitment to diversity and inclusion. Therefore, it should be equally committed to reflecting a diversity of thought and political perspectives. Establishing a Turning Point USA chapter is a step in the right direction toward achieving this balance.
We urge the school administration and board members to consider the vast benefits of opening a Turning Point USA chapter. Join us in supporting free speech and the right of our students to engage in meaningful dialogue without fear. Sign this petition to stand with us in keeping the spirit of the First Amendment alive and thriving in our school community.
