We are a coalition of barbers who would like to see a high school barber program in Central Ohio. Currently there are no high school barber programs in the state of Ohio. Why? There are barriers to starting a barber program in the high schools. The student must be 17 years old and complete 1800 hours. We would like a barber program to mirror current high school cosmetology programs of 1500 curriculum hours and the minimum age requirement of 16 years old.

The intent of this petition is to give an opportunity to as many Central Ohio residents to show their support by signing the “Start a High School Barber Program.” Let your voice be heard to remove barriers, help students learn a new skill, and provide a living wage.
