Living in our beautiful coastal community, I take pride in the scenic beauty and tranquil environment we call home. It is essential for me and, undoubtedly, for fellow residents that we reside in a safe and vibrant locality where families can thrive.

It’s all of YOU, dedicated, vigilant community members that value safety and cohesiveness that contribute significantly to a healthy environment, making it enjoyable for both locals and visitors alike.

However, recent trends suggest an uptick in major crimes and disturbances within our area. For instance, reports of petty thefts, vandalism, and increasingly reckless behavior have surfaced, causing concerns among residents and business owners.

One effective solution is to establish a block watch program. Such programs have been successfully implemented in various localities, and in researching plausibility both West Vancouver, North Vancouver and Richmond Block Watch leads mentioned a cohesive and efficient connection with their local RCMP and policing departments have lead to a substantial reduction in crime rates, trust being built up in the business community, and a close-knit community spirit being fostered. 

Our community leaders recognize citizen support allows dialogues between communities to ensure safety concerns are shared and addressed. We encourage residents to work together and unite as a collaborative team aligned with local law enforcement, to identify potential threats, and promote a safe environment.

In launching these block watch programs, we propose regular neighbourhood meetings, active communication channels, and a thriving relationship with our local RCMP, facilitating swift responses to any issues. This endeavor would not only enhance the security of our area but also unite us as a community working towards a common goal.
