We all know the drink Starry, if you don’t know what it is, well it’s Pepsi’s lemon lime carbonated drink. Well, the name used to be known as Sierra Mist. They changed the name to fit the aesthetic of  Gen-Z. Although it may attract this generation, the change is not necessary for society.

For example Sierra Mist overall just sounds better. Starry just sounds like a Kardashian/Jenner type name. But when you here Sierra Mist you think of the Sierra mountains and that relates to its clean crisp air just like how the formula of Sierra Mist is clean and crisp as well. Not to mention Sierra Mist is the original name so it has more value than Starry.

To add on, Starry just does not fit the name of the brand. Like I said, Pepsi owns Starry as it also owns Dr. Pepper, Mountain Dew, IZZE, and Mug. Starry does not sound like the other names. It honestly sounds like its’s own brand. Sierra Mist definitely fits the name better. 

Also, the Sierra Mist logo looks more like a Pepsi logo overall. Going back when I mentioned the Sierra mountains, the Sierra Mountains are actually in the background of the logo. Starry looks straight out of a cartoon, it does not look realistic. 

Although Starry may fit the Gen-Z aesthetic more, Sierra Mist can not be compared. So why don’t you consider my petition and vote for it. Join me to get Pepsi to change the name back to Sierra Mist and leave Starry in the dust.
