Stand with the 9/11 Families and Never Forget

Stand with the 9/11 Families and Never Forget
The Issue
I’m writing this because this is something I care about deeply and it won’t happen without the support of people like you. Starting a petition isn’t something I would normally do, but I was moved to do so because my father was murdered on September 11, 2001 in the World Trade Center. I want to hold the terrorist accountable and also make our Country safer. I do not wish for any other family to suffer through the trauma of losing a loved one in such a horrific way. I know I’m not alone and together we can make this change happen. Please sign and share this petition!
Dear President Biden and Members of Congress,
As concerned Americans and members of the community that suffered loss in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, we write to you in support of the Ensuring Justice for Victims of Terrorism Act (EJVTA), which has been introduced in the Senate as S.2082 and in the House as H.R.4951. We are standing together with all of those who suffered loss and injury, in the attacks on September 11, 2001, along with those who have suffered from other terror attacks.
The EJVTA is a very important piece of legislation that will enhance U.S. counterterrorism policy and fulfill commitments our nation’s lawmakers made to us in 1992 when they enacted the Antiterrorism Act (ATA) and in 2016 when they enacted the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act (JASTA). The EJVTA not only affords American victims the ability to attain accountability for the 2,977 innocent victims murdered on 9/11, it also enhances our nation’s counterterrorism policy of deterring future terrorist attacks on our nation, protecting American lives by imposing severe consequences on would-be terror supporters.
By supporting these efforts, the United States sends a robust message to all terrorists and those nations and institutions that support terrorism that we will not tolerate attacks on our homeland. Moreover, it tells all victims of terrorism that their pain and anguish will never be forgotten.
As we pledged throughout the past twenty-two years to “Never Forget” the victims of the September 11th Attacks, we ask that you honor that commitment and quickly pass the EJVTA into law so that every American can rest easier at night, knowing that our Country is safer.
