Standardize Recognition of Registered Massage Therapy Schooling Across Canada

The Issue

I am a massage therapist from Alberta, struggling to have my qualifications recognized due to varying regulations in different provinces. Despite completing the federally approved 2,200-hour program, I am unable to practice fully and receive appropriate compensation for my work in certain provinces. This is not just my story but the story of many other therapists who are facing similar challenges.

It's time we address this issue and push for change. We need a standardized system that recognizes Registered Massage Therapy (RMT) schooling across all Canadian provinces. The current system restricts mobility and hinders professionals like myself from providing our services effectively.

According to the Canadian Massage Therapist Alliance, there are approximately 26,000 RMTs across Canada (source: CMTO). These therapists should be able to work anywhere in the country without having their qualifications questioned or their ability to practice limited.

By standardizing recognition of RMT schooling across Canada, we can ensure that all massage therapists have equal opportunities regardless of where they choose to live or work. This will not only benefit professionals in this field but also improve access to quality therapeutic services for Canadians everywhere.

Let's unite as one voice and call on our government officials to make this change happen. Sign this petition today and help us bring about fair recognition for all registered massage therapists in Canada!
