We're all very well aware that energy prices are going to put a great deal of financial stress on most households this winter and it's fully understandable to look for quick solutions to that. There's a great deal of pressure that we must put on the government to alleviate the impact on families in the UK, and whoever is leading us in the next 6 weeks to a year will have to answer to it, but there's one pressure that we absolutely can't afford to add to that list and that is any question over the UK's full military, moral, and economic support of Ukraine.

This is not a fringe matter, or a foreign concern. We all get our news from different sources and are free to interpret it how we will but what the Russian Federation have conducted in their unprovoked invasion of Ukraine and what they continue to openly endorse on their state sponsored media is nothing short of genocide. They have gone to war against a people, the Ukrainian people, on the justification that they are not a people at all.

For all that this country got wrong in our past, the UK has never been a country that backed down to a bully and we are faced with a stark test of resolve by a state that has lost all credibility as a rational, truthful, or halfway decent participant in world affairs.

Generations before us went about their business under nightly bombing attacks and did not bow down, because they knew the evil behind it all trying to bully them into submission. We all should be grateful that they did not break, and we would all wish to think that we would be as brave as they were then so all I ask in this petition is for you to sign if you believe that whatever hardships come our way we will stand firm in our full support of Ukraine, and that whatever hardships that we have to face now we will bear with the same fortitude as our forebears.

Anybody that believes Russia are in somehow justifiable in what they have done, or seeks to appease some immediate end to high energy prices and the loss of life of a war waged by Russia, must know now that even this would not be the end of Russian imperialism and that to compromise now would be to betray the Ukrainian people, the Baltic states, and eventually Western Europe after that, and forever be judged as lacking in any kind of fibre or substance by future generations.

By all means I expect to have to field some more detailed arguments against the general anti-war or anti-west perspective and for those that are not actual Russian trolls I will aim to get back on, but as a petition I hope only for people to show that they are never going to give in to state sponsored terrorism and that you will hold our government to account when this fight gets tough.
