The issue

I am Hayden, the son of the owner of Currumbin Snack Shack.

As some of you may know, the petrol station has been purchased this year. Unfortunately, our new landlords have made requests that do not align with our lease agreement or legal obligations. We asked that they fix our hot water system, which is essential for her to operate the business, and after 45 days and arguments, they finally had it fixed. Additionally, they have demanded that she pay a $1,300 water bill for a leak on the property— a responsibility that she is not liable for.

When mum refused to pay this bill, she was verbally abused by the new owner, who threatened her with legal action. Following this disagreement, we were served a 30-day notice to vacate, with the landlords claiming that the lease is “illegal.” However, they signed all relevant paperwork themselves before acquiring the property, making it their responsibility.

It makes me sick witnessing grown men bullying woman who has successfully operated this business for six years without issue and I refuse to stand by and watch mum be torn down by these selfish people.

I ask all our amazing customers, and to the wider community, to stand with us in support of local businesses. Even if we have not had the pleasure of serving you, feel free to come and support the cause. There is nothing I hate more than bullying, especially when it’s my own mum.

Therefore, I invite you all to join us for a feed at Currumbin Snack Shack on Friday 21 November. Lets come together and demonstrate the strength of our beautiful community.

We have 2.5 years left on the lease so my request is simple, Buy us out or boycott.

Thank you for all the support over these 6 years.
