Across the country, protesters are mobilizing to oppose plans to expand ICE detention centers.

This push would increase the capacity to detain thousands more people, often far from their families and communities. 

A coordinated national day of action is set for Saturday, April 25, with protests planned in more than 160 cities across the country.

At the same time, local leaders in many areas say they were not consulted or have limited power to stop these projects.
