Cindy Busbee was employed at West DeFuniak Elementary School. In her four years at WDE she has proven to be a child advocate, exemplary teacher and much needed friend to her students and their parents. Mrs Busbee employed many teaching methods all proven to develop learning skills in an attempt to reach her students and help each one foster a love for learning. She started a back pack buddy program at her school and worked after hours to secure donations of food, clothing and backpacks for students in need. She sent backpacks full of food home with those children every week to ensure they had what they might need with no help from administration at WDE. Her classes FCAT scores prove her ability as a teacher. Her effort as a humanitarian proves her worth as a faithful servant. Of the classes she taught, hers had higher scores than all other classes in her grade level and her classroom won the E.O. Wilson honors award. Mrs Busbee was nominated as teacher of the year and she was selected to attend a teachers learning seminar in St Augustine, Florida while working at West DeFuniak Elementary. With an exceptional discipline and attendance record, it makes you question the current principals decision not to renew Mrs Busbee's contract.
