After 2.5 years of attempting to get the attention of a well-known organization that is meant to help people of color address discrimination and racism has returned our contact! We tried reaching out to NAACP again a few weeks ago when we received another discriminatory filing from Santa Rita Land and Cattle Company asking the court to pass an injunction against us being on the property and building on the property (adding value). Mr. Mooney had the pleasure of sharing our story with the NAACP President in New Mexico and receiving guidance on our previous filings as well as recommendations of where to go from here.
For those of you who might be catching up on everything, Mr. & Mrs. Mooney have been representing themselves pro se on this matter against a real estate company that has been illegally operating since 2000. The real estate company is also represented by a well-known and well-established law firm in New Mexico who has assisted in writing the New Mexico Rules of Civil Procedure but is somehow unable to adhere to the rules and regulations. Additionally, the Mooney's have reached out to every imaginable lawyer in the state of New Mexico and every single one has denied assisting with representation, including ACLU. Mr. & Mrs. Mooney are eternally thankful to the NAACP for offering to be an ongoing source of information and support while we finish representing ourselves on this case and set a precedent for white-owned companies selling indigenous land and discriminating against people of color.
Lastly, the Mooney's thank all of you who have signed, supported, shared, contributed. Without you our fight would still be silent.
