Stand for A Change Campaign: A fight Against Cyber Bullying
The Issue
Students may sign our petition against cyberbullying, pledging to treat people online with respect and to help those who are victims of cyberbullying.
The prevalence of cyberbullying has rise. In fact, it's beginning to become the standard, which is bad. Some people even do it for fun. While some may consider this to be the case, victims continue to suffer in silence. Because of cyberbullying, suicides and loneliness are on the rise. This is due to the fact that cyber-bullying not only harms an online entity, but it also harms a person's emotional, mental, and social well-being. As a result, a prompt response is required. This is just one project out of many. Nonetheless, another campaign against cyberbullying, particularly in the Philippines, should be launched. Although a reaction from authorities would take time, lives would be saved since victims are aware that there are others battling for them. The petition's goals are to: (1) encourage private and public schools, from preschool to high school, to include internet etiquette or "netiquette" in their curriculum; (2) encourage private and public schools authorities, from preschool to high school, to participate in monitoring and protecting students from cyberbullying; and (3) encourage legislators to take action to reintroduce cybercrime law.
We recognize that expecting everyone on the Internet to be polite to everyone else in unrealistic, but we believe that students can learn how to respond to cyberbullying and work to defend victims.
