I just wanted to let everyone know Melbourne went extremely well.
(Such a long drive though, both my husband and I could barely walk on arrival, but still - we have a choice, those animals don’t.
If I thought it would end this trade I’d drive it every few days).
There were around 50 supporters at Federation Square. To everyone who came along -
A MASSIVE THANK YOU.
What most people are unaware of is; Wednesday afternoon I received a phone call from the Victoria Policing Events Team, they requested I postpone the Stand Against Live Animal Exports Protest/Awareness Day or move it to another location because there was a Myanmar protest, May The 4th (Star Wars) and the MayDay March supposed to be on the Saturday as well, however I argued that animals are no less important than Star Wars and human rights...after a heated discussion I told him NO, I’d booked this area back in February and there are not enough voices for animals and we WILL be educating people on their behalf and we did x.
I would also like to Thank Cynthia who read Janice from Sydney’s speech and Gwyneth from the AMIEU who spoke about how the Australian Meat Industry Employees Union are against Live Animal Export and how the AMIEU had been instrumental in the original protests against this cruel trade. YES the AMIEU started the picket line on these ships in the 70’s to stop Australian animals being sent offshore for slaughter. So Thank you to the speakers and everyone who made the effort to be there for the animals...
I hope to get back to Melbourne in October but I have a personal issue I need to get sorted before I can commit to that. Once I know what’s happening - I’ll confirm.
Sydney, we are back outside Town Hall on June 19th. We seriously need people to help hand out flyers, now is the time to be proactive- before the NSW election on September the 4th and the federal election to be late this year/early 2022.
I am doing up laminated notices that will say Stand Against Live Animal Exports, my email address and email your local MP. These are so if people want to put a plain Orange Ribbon out and about the notice will explain what the Orange Ribbon means.. I apologise but I will have to charge postage for the laminated notes, however if you’d prefer to make one yourself that would be ideal.
Again Thank You to Everyone who supports the animals, Please remember this is ALL about the animals, it is not about any individual ( myself or anyone else being more important) we are all equally important in this issue. So NEVER give up.xx
