As Covid cases in Connecticut hit record heights, it’s alarming that Stamford schools are remaining open. The health and safety of our staff, students, and families have to be our number one priority. Although each student has a choice to switch to distance learning individually, we do not have the option to make the switch while keeping our schedules and teachers. This incentivizes students to stay in a learning environment that isn’t safe for them out of fear that they will not be able to catch up on their work in whatever class they are switched into mid-quarter. Schools must either switch to remote learning immediately or create a system where students can switch online whenever they need to without having to change their classes or teachers.
