We need your support to ask The Department of Education for new leadership to improve the environment in the classroom. We need to organise a review of the senior management team.

This change will significantly improve the ability of the students to learn.

The Issues are:

o Teachers. Students will now have a lot of teachers teaching them who are not qualified in the subjects being taught. An example of this might be a specialist Physics teacher being forced to teach Biology without any knowledge in Biology. As a result the students will suffer.

o Relief Teachers. Moral is so low at the school many of the fabulous teachers who have been at the school for years are now just demoralised or becoming unwell because they are unsupported. When these teachers call in sick a relief teacher is brought in for the day to replace them, of course this teacher will once again often be teaching something that they know nothing about. As a result the students will suffer.

o EA (Educational Assistance). The school has some fantastic motivated well qualified Education Assistances. These EA’s are normally deployed within the school to support students who need additional backing and rely on the EA building a good repartee with the student. Against the advice of all of the HOLA’s, The Principal has just redeployed most of the EA’s in areas where they are not normally associated with or in an area where they cannot use their expertise. As a result the students will suffer.

o ICT in the Classroom. Many schools have been running a student BYOD (Bring your own Device) scheme for years. Whilst the ICT committee have tried again and again to ask the Principal to support the introduction of laptops or tablets in the classroom to create an IT rich environment, (something that the students of today expect and respond well to), this has been refused. As a result the students will suffer.
