St. Paul's United Church being evolved to South Sarnia Church and Enrichment Centre
St. Paul's United Church being evolved to South Sarnia Church and Enrichment Centre
The Issue
The goal of the South Sarnia Church and Enrichment Centre is to provide young people the opportunity to have a safe environment in which to grow.
The community has many adults who are prepared to volunteer to help run the necessary programs at the facility, which would provide responsible monitoring and mentoring to the youth who participate.
There are many avenues that these young people can take in life and giving them a safe outlet to learn activities and life skills will help them grow in a productive atmosphere.
These avenues would be taught in an inclusive environment that meets the needs of the young people today.
Athletics is one way of bringing these kids in, but athletics is only one way and the goal of the Centre is to look at the needs of the community and provide support to the individual needs and then see how we can support these needs.
The vision of the Enrichment Centre is to include all kids no matter what race, creed, colour, social platform, or ethnic background into a place that will help them meet their goals and aspirations.
The Mission of the Centre is to unite the south end of Sarnia and give it a place to be proud of. The goal is to give both the youth and adults a place to come together and use their skills to help each other grow and become productive together. The south end has many talented people that would volunteer time to help make this Centre a viable place for the youth in the community for decades to come.
Having a place to come to help with the many vices that present themselves daily will help the community and its members find the help they need to become productive and improve their self worth and make them feel whole again.
The goal is for the participants of our programs to be developed on all levels. To possess the skills to reach their highest potential of self and achieve their goals.
We want to make a permanent impact. The leadership skills we instill produce lifelong positive effects into the lives of youth in the community.
Every community is unique, so our curriculum will be tailor-made to encompass the full, diverse needs of each Individual and the goal they aim to achieve.
Today’s youth are the future of tomorrow’s world, so we hold the highest of standards for creating programs to develop them for success.
Studies show mentored youth are more likely to overcome negative influences and have an increased capacity to direct their feelings, thoughts, and actions to achieve their goals.
Our character outlines the types of decisions we will make throughout our lives. The ripple effect of using the volunteers at the Centre to mentor and show these young people true values will support them throughout their lives and this will generate the future leaders of our community.
In this changing world there is a need for youth organizations to have a place to practice their chosen sports. The goal of this Centre is to provide a multitude of sports so that it meets the needs of many of the youth in the community.
Not all of our youth like sports and many have other interests which are not met at the places within the community the goal is to have a committee to look at the needs of the community and provide community members with a place to enjoy their chosen likes.
When our kids go to school they have breakfast programs that help them meet their nutritional needs. During weekends, holidays, and in the summer the kids of the community do not have this outlet. The goal is during these gaps to provide a place to get the food required.
There are needs in the community not presently met by any organization. The goal is for our committee to identify these needs and access the funds and programs to meet that need.
The youth of today have very few safe places that they can go and get the counselling and care they need to meet the challenges that they are faced with. We would like to provide a place for these kids to receive this support.
Like the youth, many of our adults are in need of a place to go to fulfill their needs. Give these adults the tools and they can help in the organization of the Centre and also help the youth attain their goals. These Adults will help the youth be the building blocks we know they can be.
The community needs a place for youth to Learn and enjoy both Music and the Arts.
The Bluewater Boxing Club offers many programs directed toward both youth and adults Including:
Olympic Style Boxing for all Ages;
An all female program dedicated to just females with the focus on physical fitness and wellness;
A kids class for kids aged 7 to 10 years old with the focus of physical fitness and self defense;
A class for the Native friendship Centre with the focus on fitness and discipline ;
A morning training for older adults with the focus on fitness;
Participant is Sarnia Funfest yearly;
Volunteering at Noelle's Gift; and
Volunteering at tall ships as Fundraiser for Club.
Classes would be both during the day and evenings.
There are also many other programs that would like to be involved with the South Sarnia Church and Enrichment Centre, including:
A Tae Kwon Do club that would like to set up to new members;
A wrestling Club would like to have room to train in the Centre
A weightlifting Club would like to set up for training for Amateur lifters.
Kids need a place to train for multi sports. Many of these athletes cannot afford to train. The Centre will have a sponsorship program to help these kids to have a place to train.
There are many organizations that can no longer function because of lack of affordable space.
