The Issue

Please only sign this petition if you are a member of the St. Monica School Dallas, TX community.

We, the undersigned, are concerned St. Monica School parents who believe our children should be learning in the classroom environment.

Moving forward, we simply desire more transparency.

Metrics for Virtual Learning Based on School Re-opening Plan

Our understanding was the primary focus of the re-opening plan was to keep children in the classroom environment and allow for students to temporarily transition to virtual learning when required to quarantine for COVID-19 infection or close exposure .

If new metrics for virtual learning are required they need to be determined by a newly formed Covid-19 Task Force that has representation from St. Monica teachers and parents.  Any changes to St. Monica School's re-opening plan needs to be communicated to all parents before any further virtual learning extensions are made past the existing December 4th deadline.

Covid-19 Task Force

The Covid-19 Task Force currently does NOT include any classroom (homeroom) teacher or parent representation. The COVID-19 Task Force must represent the entire school community and therefore we are requesting the following changes:

  • Four classroom (homeroom) teacher committee members need to be added to the St. Monica Covid-19 Task Force.
  • Two members from grades K-4 and two members from grades 5-8 that have held the position of head classroom (homeroom) teacher for at least four academic calendar years at St. Monica Catholic School.
  • Parent representation is lacking on the COVID-19 Task Force.
  • Two parent committee members need to be added to the St. Monica Covid-19 Task Force.
  • One member from each of our elected parent represented bodies: Student Advisory Council and Parent Teacher Organization Executive Board.
  • The members from both of these boards must currently have a child attending St. Monica and should represent the views of the St. Monica Bearcat community.
  • The boards are responsible for obtaining and understanding the opinions of the parents through surveys, questionnaires, town hall zooms, etc.
