St. Louis County residents support County Council oversight to the County Executive

The Issue

As citizens of St. Louis County, those of us who own businesses in St. Louis County and those of us whose children go to school in St. Louis county - We support, urge and demand that the County Executive/Department of Public Health receive oversight for any and all Covid outbreak related decisions.

Citizens have been writing to the County Council for over three months expressing our frustrations and concerns with the unilateral power and control of our county executive.   When our concerns and frustrations are expressed, we are told by certain council members that we are selfish, racist, privileged citizens who care more about liberty than people.

The County Executive is asking for support on his campaign Facebook page, not on his public official county Facebook page,  to continue to have one man/woman power and control. Sam Page explains that a medical doctor should be making these decisions and not common elected citizens such as the county council. He does not use his emergency powers as they were intended.  No choice or shut down has ever been urgent.  He has planned in advance when and even who he will shut down.  This gives ample time to meet with the council -  which the statute requires anyway - and even multiple medical professionals, to discuss the best balanced approach moving forward.

We are no longer allowed to email in comments but Sam Page is going to make sure those certain targeted voices are heard.  I ask and implore you to take time to consider making your voice be heard and support that the county council be included (as they legally should be) in the decision making and all decisions that effect the entire county.  Please leave any comment you feel would be helpful.
