Al Travis, a current member of the St. Helena Parish School Board located in Greensburg, Louisiana has recently released an inappropriate, unprofessional, and racist comment about the governing bodies of our region and nationwide. He blatantly stated on Facebook, "The reason we have treason at such high levels of government on both sides is there are no repercussions. We've done away with hanging." Public lynchings and hangings have been the hallmark of America's dark racial history. The majority of the student's Al Travis represents in St. Helena Parish are African American. His comments were insensitive to the students and the parish he represents. The rhetoric of Mr. Travis is divisive and racist and needs to be stopped. He does not represent the best interest of our children in this great parish. This petition is a request that he resign his position immediately.
