Nancy Niederhaus started this petition to St. Albert City Council

St. Albert is called "The Botanical Arts City".  This year the city of St. Albert received a Tree City of the World award.  This is a beloved aspect of our community and an important part of St. Albert's identity.

You may be interested to learn about a proposed Bylaw Amendment to the Land Use Bylaw of Riverside, in St. Albert, Alberta.

This area is currently designated as an Urban Reserve.  The Urban Reserve houses bald eagles, hawks, owls, and woodpeckers. Numerous other wild birds, mammals, insects and amphibians call this Urban Reserve home. Majestic trees, generations old, line the edge of the Urban Reserve.  Citizens enjoy this natural feature every day of the year.  Those who live in the area, those who walk on the trail, and those who will soon be living in this new development.

Now, the developer wants to knock down all these glorious trees and destroy habitat.  They have not engaged the community in this decision.

Riverside is a community that is LEED Certified, meaning "Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design".  It advertises that "the beauty in Riverside is sustainable and naturally preserved"

If you wish to help preserve the Urban Reserve, please join in to ensure that the proposed Bylaw 20/2021 amendment A is not passed.

Save our trees and the surrounding wildlife habitat.
