The Issue

We, the undersigned Santa Rita Ranch III residents and homeowners who have experienced, or are currently experiencing, water quality concerns such as significant mineral buildup in faucet aerators, fixtures, household water lines, tankless water heaters, or other water-using appliances, respectfully request that the Santa Rita Ranch III HOA Board of Directors formally take up this issue.

A growing number of residents appear to be experiencing substantial mineral accumulation and related water-quality concerns within their homes. While individual household plumbing remains the responsibility of each homeowner, the widespread nature of these reports raises a reasonable question as to whether this issue warrants a coordinated community-level inquiry.

The HOA is in a position to help organize and communicate on matters that may affect the community broadly. Accordingly, we ask the Board, if applicable and within its authority, to:

  • Place this issue on an upcoming Board meeting agenda for discussion.
  • Review the extent of resident-reported mineral buildup and water quality concerns within Santa Rita Ranch III.
  • Coordinate a community inquiry with Tucson Water, which may include requesting:
neighborhood-specific information regarding water hardness and mineral content,
clarification as to whether Santa Rita Ranch III is experiencing water conditions that differ materially from surrounding areas,
guidance on whether any utility-side action, investigation, or mitigation may be available,
and recommendations Tucson Water can provide to affected residents.
  • Request that Tucson Water provide either a written response for distribution to residents or, if feasible, participate in a community or Board meeting.
  • Report back to homeowners regarding the Board’s findings, Tucson Water’s response, and any recommended next steps.

This petition does not ask the HOA to assume responsibility for private plumbing systems or to fund individual household repairs. Rather, it asks the Board to consider whether a coordinated, fact-based community inquiry is appropriate in light of the number of residents experiencing similar concerns.

Residents who have experienced these water quality or mineral buildup issues are encouraged to sign this petition so the Board can better understand the level of community concern and determine whether further action is warranted.
