The integrity of the original art style is at risk in the Remastered version of Final Fantasy VIII. The trailer from e3 has shown a doppelgänger version of Squall, and potentially other characters not shown have been changed too. This game isn’t a “remake” it is a “remaster”.

Square Enix Co., Ltd. have taken liberties at advertising updated Final Fantasy games, but only put in half the work and leave the prerendered backgrounds untouched because of the supposed lost code/files etc. Modders have put in algorithms for machine learning to address this issue to such a successful degree, that for Square to ignore this issue is unacceptable at this point.

Draw Cast Protect on:

• Squall to look closer to the Original in game cutscene renders of himself - and potentially other characters not shown in the trailer.
• Address the pre-rendered backgrounds to not look like a muddy mess in contrast to the dramatically higher resolution character models.
• Give the non-player characters and objects some love and update them properly.

Vote to help protect the original integrity of the game’s art and make the change for more acceptable re-releases of our favorite games made by Square Enix.
