Raise Spotify royalties to help small artists
Why this petition matters
Why they need to raise royalties...
Every since Spotify started they made it hard for artists to grow and make livable money off their platform. Spotify pays an average of about one-third to one-half of a penny per stream. For many small creators who are trying their hardest to grow this just isn't enough. The amount of money they pay artists compared to other companies is terrible. According to rollingstones.com apple music pays One cent per stream. This is double and in some cases triple what Spotify pays and its userbase is the same if not bigger.

For small artists "Jetamex" streaming royalties is one of the only ways he can make money from his music during the aftermath of the pandemic, "I cant make money in any other ways. No concerts, No fan meetups. Streaming royalties is my only source of income from music and I know its the same for many. Mixed with the low Spotify rates, I'm making slave wages for hours of work". Jetamex is a dj/producer out of Phoenix Arizona. His main goal of music is to help other smaller creators get their feet on the ground and make a living releasing music. " I cant, its hard to help with royalties like this". After releasing his debut album "WOE" Jetamex says he focuses on getting streams on other services because " Spotify wont help me create a better environment for my fans, and help me change the lives of other small artists, even if I miss out on certain opportunity's, focusing on other sites will help so many different people out in the long run...". If this isn't proof of unfair treatment of artists then I dont know what to say.

It may not seem like much but 1/3 of the royalties compared to other companies can end up being a lot of money lost when you add it up. Spotify claims they help small artists out but in the end they do the least to help them grow and become bigger than ever. We need change...
