Dear Sportsnet & Rogers, as Oiler Fans we need to talk.

As you know, the Oilers are the remaining Canadian team in the 2024-2025 playoffs.

Jack Michaels, Louie DeBrusk and Gene Principe are both the faces and voices of the Edmonton Oilers off the ice and have been so for a very long time. For fans of the Oilers, or even Canadian Teams in general, this crew always delivers an unforgettable watching experience, night in and night out. With playoff tickets being as expensive as they are, for some die-hard fans, the television is the closest thing that they have to getting to a hockey game in May or June. Luckily for us Oiler fans, from the comfort of a local bar, or in our very own living room, it feels like we are at the game when Jack, Louie and Gene are on the call. From Jack’s intoxicating energy, to Louie’s impartial insight, to Gene’s charismatic nature via puns, us Oiler fans tune in every night, knowing that regardless of the outcome, we will be treated to an entertaining experience.

We have the very utmost respect for Chris Cuthbert, Craig Simpson and Kyle Bukauskus (Apologies on the spelling), who ultimately are the faces and voices of the Maple Leafs during the playoffs until they are eliminated, to which they’ll take over any of the remaining Canadian teams.

It is our belief as Oilers fans, that Jack, Louie and Gene not only deserve the opportunity to continue calling games for the Oilers going into Round 3 and (Fingers Crossed) potentially the Stanley Cup Finals, but it would bring in even more viewership, ratings and overall revenue.

The safe choice of course is the go with the team of Cuthbert, Simpson and Kyle (Something) who have been a network staple for many years. But if you want to truly rally around the last Canadian team, as your repetitive commercials indicate, then go with the team that are the faces and voices of the Oilers behind the scenes. We guarantee, this will not only bring joy to Oiler fans, but this can ultimately bring in more viewership and the overall energy can help bring the cup home.

Keep Jack, Louie and Gene on the air. Do it for Canada.
