Speed Up Housing Solutions: Empower Builders and Investors for a Stronger Canada

Speed Up Housing Solutions: Empower Builders and Investors for a Stronger Canada
The Issue
As a builder with years of experience in Canada’s housing industry, I am deeply frustrated with the current regulatory and tax framework surrounding new home construction — especially for spec and infill projects.
Government rules and mounting tax burdens, particularly the application of HST on land purchase prices, have made it increasingly difficult for small and mid-sized builders to initiate projects. Many experienced builders have stopped building altogether, leaving a noticeable gap in housing supply and weakening local economies that rely on organic, grassroots growth.
I am launching this petition to show public support for a straightforward, practical change: Remove the HST from land purchases for infill and speculative building projects. This single adjustment would make new home construction significantly more manageable for builders and investors, helping to speed up project starts, ease the housing crisis, and stimulate real economic growth in communities across the country.
I am seeking meetings with the Housing Minister, the Finance Minister, and the Prime Minister’s Office to advocate for this change on behalf of builders, trades, suppliers, and homeowners.
Your support will help demonstrate that Canadians are ready for smart, effective action to unlock new housing supply and build stronger communities from the ground up.
Please sign this petition to show your support for builders, local economies, and real solutions to Canada’s housing crisis. Together, we can make a difference.
