Speed Humps for Mapmaker Lane

The Issue

With at least four accidents in the last year, one two weeks ago, within the 200 block of Mapmaker Lane, causing damage to cars and property, we are making an official request for speed humps to be installed. All kinds of people speed down Mapmaker: residents, people cutting through, people dropping off or picking their kids up at end of the road for school. Recently Mapmaker Lane was repaved and painted with lines for walking/parking lanes and a double yellow line to distinguish driving lanes. I assume to try and slow traffic down. This has done the complete opposite. People are now speeding even faster due to the smoothness of the road.

Installing speed humps, especially at the big curve on Mapmaker Lane between Ropemaker Lane and Bowsprit Lane, will definitely slow drivers down and have them paying more attention.

Per the Chatham County Traffic Calming Policy, a petition with at least 60% of Battery Point homeowner signatures, homeowners who live on Mapmaker Lane, is required with the application. Please sign and support having speed humps installed.
