The Issue

Living on Eastside Drive has become increasingly dangerous for our community, especially for the children who often play outside. Our street has turned into a shortcut for drivers looking to avoid the congestion on McKee and White, leading to a high volume of fast-driving vehicles.

This constant influx of speeding cars has left myself and many of my neighbors and friends feeling anxious and concerned for the safety of our children. Imagine the fear of watching cars zoom by at unsafe speeds while kids are just trying to enjoy playing in their neighborhood. It is distressing to say the least.

My neighbors and I believe that the installation of at least two speed bumps on Eastside Drive will effectively slow down traffic, making our street a safer place for families. Speed bumps are a proven method of reducing vehicle speed and can significantly decrease the likelihood of accidents in residential areas.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, traffic-calming measures such as speed bumps can reduce vehicle speeds by 20%–25%. In communities where speed bumps have been installed, traffic-related accidents have seen a notable decrease.

We are not demanding an unrealistic solution, but rather a practical measure that many other neighborhoods have successfully implemented. By adding these speed bumps, we not only protect our children but also improve the quality of life in our entire community.

Please consider signing this petition to urge our local authorities to take immediate action in installing speed bumps on Eastside Drive. Your support could help prevent a potential tragedy and reaffirm the value of safety in our neighborhood. Sign today and help us create a safer environment for our children and for everyone who calls our street home.
