Kagel Canyon Spectrum Services During PSPS / Power Outages

Kagel Canyon Spectrum Services During PSPS / Power Outages
The Issue
Dear Spectrum,
Customers of Spectrum services who reside in Kagel Canyon, CA require a solution to guarantee the continuity of Spectrum Internet Service for no less than seventy two (72) hours during Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) events and other power outages.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many residents of Kagel Canyon are working from home and rely on the internet service provided by Spectrum to perform their duties.
It is therefore untenable for Spectrum Customers residing in Kagel Canyon to not have access to reliable internet service during the frequent PSPS events and other power outages and request that Spectrum provide one or all of the following:
- An alternative (non-grid) source of power to supply Service Node AD052W and any other node(s) servicing the Kagel Canyon, CA community with continuous power that will last no less than seventy two (72) hours during PSPS and other unforeseen power outages;
- Reliable Spectrum WiFi hotspot(s) with guaranteed coverage for every resident of the Kagel Canyon community during power outages, that are not dependent on Southern California Edison electric grid operation;
- Information, training, and the establishment of a Community Spectrum Liaison with the ability to provide power to the Kagel Canyon community service node(s);
- All of the above.
Many residents of Kagel Canyon possess power generators and other solutions to provide power to their homes during PSPS events and power outages. During these outages, those residents are able to maintain internet access for a short time after the outage begins, until the service node(s) is/are no longer provided with power. If power is continuously supplied to Service Node AD052W and any other Spectrum node servicing residents of Kagel Canyon for no less than 72 hours during a PSPS or other outage, many resident Spectrum customers will be able to maintain internet access utilizing their non-grid power solution and the continuous Spectrum signal.
We, the Customers of Spectrum who reside in Kagel Canyon, request a response and proposal for a satisfactory solution to this matter no later than February 20, 2021.
Sincerely,
-The Spectrum Customers who Reside in Kagel Canyon, CA
