As with my fellow Yale alum, ACT UP's motto was SILENCE=DEATH. That motto was translated into dozens of languages where AIDS and HOMOPHOBIA were synonymous.

Today, it is same-sex marriage, and silence will enbolden the neocons who hate us, and the neolibs who tolerate us. Whenever and wherever you have the opportunity, do not allow spiritual and verbal violence to pollute your environment.Remember the Boomers before you witnessed life under the gay Jim Crow...when the Church, the Law, and Psychiatry all conspired to make us hate ourselves, and yet we survived and thrived to live to see this day, and we await tomorrow.
