Speak Up For Elephants!

Speak Up For Elephants!

The Issue

Elephants are large and powerful animals that live  very active lifestyles. The active range for elephants can be as much as 5,000 square kilometers. The animals will literally spend hours during the day walking throughout this large area.

Such accommodations cannot be recreated in a captive-setting. Many animal rights advocates will attest that elephants in zoos suffer a life of chronic physical ailments, social deprivation, emotional starvation, and premature death.

In the last four years, four elephants have died in captivity at the Toronto Zoo. The most recent death occurred on Nov.30.09. Please take a minute to write to the Toronto Zoo and speak out against holding elephants in captivity.
