This petition represents the thoughts, voices, desires, needs, perspectives and strong opinions of the students, parents, teachers and administrators represented in the Clark County School district. This petition is a direct result of a local community meeting held at Legacy High School on last Wednesday March 9, 2011 where the subject was the current proposed budget cuts in education. We were asked as a community of parents to come up with more than 4million dollars worth of suggestions in where to cut expenses in education as well as to fill out a survey filled with suggestions for doing so to which we had multiple choice options denoted by the amount that would be saved with said option. After hearing the strong convictions, suggestions, objections and concerns from parents, adminstrators and students alike, the need to do something a little more than send an email to our state representatives, or fill out a survey created by them and/or the CCSD arose! We are fully persuaded that our children, who are our future come first. To tell them that they are important, and that getting an educaiton is important while undermining the very institution that allows them to grow into successful, dedicated, balanced, strong minded, well taught, individuals is unacceptable! We take this stand....FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO CUT!!! BEGINNING IN YOUR OWN OFFICES! LEAVE EDUCATION AND PUBLIC SAFETY ALONE! Please stand with us and let your voice be heard by signing your name. Look for your schools parent or student liaison. They with be the one circulating the petition at your school. Feel free however to sign on any petition representing one or more of the schools your child or children attend or will be attending. Feel free to comment on what is most important to you!
