Keep Spartanburg County Animals in Spartanburg County

Keep Spartanburg County Animals in Spartanburg County
The Issue
In October 2011, after lengthy discussions for months between Spartanburg Humane Society and Spartanburg County Council over new, increased contract rates for which Spartanburg Humane Society was asking in order to accommodate the state's mandatory five day stray hold for found/lost pets, Spartanburg County Council said "No more." They instead decided to change their contract to Greenville County Animal Care for approximately half the cost of their current contract with Spartanburg Humane Society. They did so with the understanding that this was to be a temporary arrangement until our county could research and implement a more permanent solution to manage animal services.
In November 2011, the first Spartanburg County animals rolled into Greenville County Animal Care. Almost a decade later, nine years to be exact, they are still rolling into Greenville County Animal Care and this has not been a temporary solution. Maybe it's the turn of county residents to say, "No more."
It is time for a change. If you feel the same, please sign this petition to keep Spartanburg County animals in Spartanburg County with a municipal shelter.
