The youth in Southern Pines, NC don’t have anywhere close to town to skateboard, skate, rollerblade or ride their scooters.  The closest Skate Parks are at Fort Bragg or in Apex,NC which are at least an hour away and it is against town ordinance to skate downtown.

Southern Pines has enough green space in the Town to add a skatepark for the youth and other residents of Moore County to get outside, skate, and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine in our beautiful town.

As a 13-year old skater in Southern Pines, I know that my friends, fellow Southern Pines skaters and I would appreciate a skate park.  It would give us a place to legally skate and get us outside and exercising.  Additionally, it would make the business owners in Downtown Southern Pines happy because there would be less skating on their property and at the same time draw people into the Downtown area to shop at their businesses.  

Skateboarding, skating, roller blading and scooter riding appeals to people of all ages and would add to the recreation possibilities in beautiful Southern Pines, NC.  This petition would be presented along with 600 physical signatures to the Town Council of Southern Pines to consider the construction of a Skate Park.
