The Issue
In light of the recent events that took place on Saturday 17th August at Chalkwell Fair (Chalkwell Park) involving 30+ members of the travelling so called 'Fun Fair' staff and the extreme violence they inflicted on two local school children I am appealing to Southend Council to revoke their licence for any future attendance of this fair at Chalkwell Park INDEFINITELY.
The children in question were brutally beaten for a considerable period of time and both left with severe facial injuries. This savage attack happened in broad daylight at approximately 6.30pm. Many people, families and children witnessed what happened and the bloody aftermath. Something has to be done to prevent this ever happening again in our community.
This was a completely unprovoked attack and the persons have not been held accountable for the suffering they have inflicted. Instead they have been able to simple pack up and move on to new site, leaving rubbish and waste in our park for the council to deal with - the clean up being funded by the very community that they have abused.
The incident has been highly publicised over the past few days with articles in the Evening Echo and Online and I feel the only prevention is for these people not to be allowed to bring their Fair and Violence to our local park. We do not need to encourage these types of events that just attract violence year on year.
Instead, I am urging the local community to support our local attraction Adventure Island on Southend Seafront which all rides under go vigorous health and safety checks and inspections and the site is manned with Security Staff at all times aswell as CCTV.
This petition is not affiliated with Adventure Island in anyway. It is just about supporting our local communities and businesses and supporting our young people.
